Experience
I worked for three years as a peer tutor at Warren Wilson College, where my responsibilities included -daily tutoring and record keeping -preparing and executing lectures, workshops, and training sessions -weekly training sessions all three years -yearly international, national, and regional conferences including the CCCC 2010 and SWCA 2009 and 2010 -teaching up to three one-credit classes per semester In addition to the above, I have personally developed and presented seminars at conferences as well as collaborating with other tutors for such presentations. I was crew leader, meaning I had leadership responsibilities such as overseeing scheduling and playing a key role in training sessions. I assisted my director in training three separate rotations of new tutors, a training plan that has now developed into an actual for-credit class. Outside of my responsibilities at the writing center, I designed an independent study, Advanced Writing Center Theory and Practice, which ultimately produced a qualitative study of tutoring practices and influences on pedagogical philosophies and how these components affect tutor services student-to-student. Serving writers as best as possible is a science that I am passionate in studying!
